About the New Princess Designs
I, like most people, freaked out upon seeing the Disney princess redesigns. It seemed crazy to change their “animated” versions which already looked different from the films. Personally, I thought that if they would update them it would be to bring them back to their original looks. As we all saw, that did not happen. Face shapes and hair were changed, skin tones were lightened, and a lot of glitter was added to new dresses.
Now with these new designs came changes to the princesses meet and greet outfits in the parks. I’ll be honest, when I first saw Cinderella, I hated it. I didn’t understand the side bangs at all. But after seeing her Magic Kingdom a few times, it started to grow on me. It’s not how she looked in the film, but when you compare her new look to what she used to wear, it is a major improvement. Cindy is absolutely beautiful!
Today I got to see Belle’s new dress and hairstyle. I’m still making up my mind about the hair (it’s longer with lots of tight curls, and I prefer it a little wavier), but the dress is a beautiful piece of craftsmanship. It doesn’t look cheap or costume-y like the old one did. She looks like a true princess.
So maybe when you meet a princess she won’t look like she did in her movie. But I think it might be okay. I’m beyond excited to see what they’ll give Aurora since we can all agree that her current park outfit has pretty much nothing going for it. As for Ariel, Tiana, and Rapunzel, I think they’re fine, and Snow might need a slight change. Jasmine already has a different outfit, so that won’t be much of a change. Just, please be careful with Pocahontas and Mulan.
